Lynsey Sharp: Scottish athlete in Twitter row over Glasgow silver

English 5,000m runner Andy Vernon has apologised to Scotland's Lynsey Sharp after a Twitter row over her winning silver in the Commonwealth Games 800m.
Sharp, 24, finished second in Glasgow on Friday, less than a day after being on a hospital drip because of illness.
Vernon was critical of her reaction to her performance in several comments on the social media website.
But later Vernon, 28, apologised and tweeted:  "What started as a joke got out of hand."
After Sharp had written that she planned to buy a Chanel handbag after winning a medal, Vernon said she should "mention it now and again".
But the Scot retorted: "It's not my fault cross country doesn't get quite as much publicity."
The pair then exchanged insults on the social media website, including Sharp referring to Vernon  as "Andy Vermin".

Katarina Johnson-Thompson out of European Championships

Katarina Johnson-Thompson has pulled out of the Great Britain team for the European Championships in Zurich.
She was due to compete in the long jump but has failed to recover from the foot injury that ruled her out of the Commonwealth Games.
British Athletics said her withdrawal was based on "taking the longer-term view rather than short-term risk".
The 21-year-old posted the highest heptathlon score of the year with a personal best 6,682 points in June.
Long jumper Shara Proctor and triple jumper Phillips Idowu have also pulled out of the championships with injury.
Dai Greene failed to achieve the qualifying standard for the 400m hurdles and has been replaced by Seb Rodger, but Mo Farah is due to compete in the 5,000m and 10,000m.
Javelin thrower Goldie Sayers has been named as the Great Britain team captain for the event, which gets underway on Tuesday.

Mo Farah eyes Great North Run victory on his 2014 return

Olympic and world champion Mo Farah will race at the 2014 Great North Run half-marathon looking to go one better than last year's second-place finish.
Farah, 31, won gold in the 5,000m and 10,000m at London 2012 and Moscow 2013 but was pipped to GNR success by Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele.
"I would like to come back and win this year," said Farah.
The 2014 elite field for the race on 7 September includes Olympic marathon champion Stephen Kiprotich of Uganda.
Farah, who withdrew from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after failing to recover from a recent illness, will be among 57,000 running in next month's field.
Organisers Nova have said that this year's race is set to feature the one millionth finisher of the Great North Run since the event began in 1981.
"I'm thrilled that on such a momentous milestone for the Great North Run, Britain's greatest-ever male distance runner will be joining us," chairman Brendan Foster added.
"One thing's for sure; Mo will be desperate to be first over the finish line in South Shields."
